Overview

Technician Skills define specialized competencies (e.g., plumbing, electrical) for assigning appropriate personnel to maintenance tasks. Proper skill tagging ensures efficient work order allocation and compliance tracking.

PrerequisitesStep-by-Step Guide to Add Skills1. Access Technician Skills Module
  • Go to the left navigation menu → Click Technician Skills

  • View existing skills in the table (e.g., "Plumbing" with technician count)

2. Initiate Skill Creation

  • Click Add Skill (top-right button)

  • "Add Skill" modal window appears

3. Configure Skill Details

  • Skill Name (Required):

    • Enter a specific competency (e.g., "HVAC Certification", "Ladder Safety Trained")

    • Follow naming conventions:

      • ✅ Good: "Electrical - High Voltage"

      • ❌ Avoid: "Fix machines" (too vague)

    • Maximum length: 40 characters

4. Finalize
  • Save Skill: Adds to the system

  • Cancel: Discards inputs

  • Confirmation: New skill appears instantly in the table

Best Practices
  1. Standardized Naming

    • Use industry-standard terms (e.g., "OSHA 30 Certified" instead of "Safety Training")

    • Add certification levels: "Welding Level 2"

  2. Skill Grouping

    • Prefix related skills:

      • "HVAC - Installation"

      • "HVAC - Troubleshooting"

  3. Compliance Tracking

    • Tag expiration dates in skill descriptions (e.g., "CPR Certified (Exp: 12/2025)")
